BABIES - (Ages 6 months - 3 years)

Our Baby Swim Classes are offered to children, starting from 6 months old. This class requires our babies to be accompanied in the water, by a parent or guardian, at all times. Our instructors lead this class; however, it allows the parents to have 1:1 time with their children and begin their journey with water familiarisation, together. Our aim is to introduce some basic techniques to the babies, including floating, submersion, bubbling and movement through the water. Our goal is to help educate the parents on how to promote and practice water safety with their children.

  • Children must wear water nappies.
  • Parents/Guardians must be comfortable standing in waist-deep water.
  • Children must be aged between 6 month & 3 years old.

Squid is the first level we offer, in which the children are not assisted by their parents, and only swimming with their instructor. This allows the children to build independence from their parents, while being in the safety of our instructors’ supervision. We continue the children’s journey through water familiarisation and water safety, in classes with a maximum of 4 students. These classes are held in the shallow end of the pool. The emphasis of these lessons, is promoting safety in the water and encouraging the children to engage in activity in the water.

  • Children must be beginners or have attended previous swimming lessons.

Our Clownfish Class is a level above the Squid Class, which offers an increased program to build confiendence in the water and the children’s capabilities. We run these classes with a maximum of 4 students, allowing for socialisation and sufficient time with an instructor. This class is held in the shallow end of the pool, offering students a chance to use various pieces of equipment. Some of the skills students will learn in this class include kicking their legs, exhaling in the water, torpedo through the water, floating, working with their faces in the water and back kicking. The aim of this class is to reinforce water safety, for the students to become independent and swim without needing any assistance from an instructor.

  • Children need to complete a swimming class at a Squid level OR assessed by one of our instructors.

Swordfish is our 3rd level of independent swimming classes that we offer at Funlife Fitness Centre. Because students are more confident in swimming without an instructor, these classes are held in groups of 5. First, students learn how to perform strokes such as freestyle and backstroke – to increase their capabilities in the water. Instructors focus on assisting the children’s strength and endurance when they are kicking and perfect both strokes. When competency has been achieved, the class progresses to learning other strokes. These include breaststroke and survival backstroke. In addition, the class also learns the basics of diving into the water safely.

  • Children must have completed clownfish level of swimming OR assessed by one of our instructors.

Orca is our 4th level and is a class of 5 students. The students are expected to have knowledge of freestyle, backstroke, survival backstroke and breaststroke. This class allows our students to spend time perfecting each of these strokes; helping them to further develop their strength, endurance and confidence. Students are also taught how to perform dolphin kicks and how to perfect their diving skills.  By the time students have reached this level, they should have confidence in and around the water, and are aware of correct water safety.

  • Children need to complete a swimming class at our Swordfish level OR assessed by one of our Instructors.
  • Children must be familiar with freestyle, backstroke, survival backstroke and breaststroke.

Piranha is the 5th and final level of swimming offered at Funlife Fitness Centre. We strive to teach confident and independent swimmers to be fluent in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, dolphin kick and survival strokes. We aim for our students to be confidently swimming 4 -8 laps in each stroke. Our goal is to equip our students to the best of our ability, and this class prepares them to be able to practice water safety and confidently swim, unassisted.

  • Children need to complete a swimming class at our Orca level OR be assessed by one of our instructors.
  • Children need to be learning how to complete certain strokes and techniques.
