6 WEEK CHALLENGE – 2019 – 2nd Place (Kirsty)
2019 is going to be my year to get fit and healthy! When Funlife Fitness Centre advertised a 6 week challenge, it was a no-brainer for me to join and become a part of it. It was a great way for me to start a journey that I had tried to begin on my own, but just couldn’t find the motivation.
The challenge started with a body scan, not only recorded our weight… but it gave us our measurements, water retention and other elements. However, the challenge did not only centre around weight loss, but adopted a holistic approach to fitness, food and a healthy lifestyle.
In all cases, I felt challenged and was pleased that I actually gave things a go and tried my best. One Saturday morning, we were educated about Park Runs and we completed one ourselves – that was definitely a challenge, especially when running isn’t my favourite thing to do.
Fitness was not the only key focus, but rather, we were given tools for life – how to face our fears, the benefit of sleep, how to get the best rest we can and how to make good (and alternative) eating habits.
The highlight for me during this Challenge has been making new friends and developing connections with people who are also on their own journey. The encouragement that we were for each other has been wonderful; and the trainers at Funlife also offer words of advice, always delivered with kindness and have been a tremendous inspiration throughout this journey.
It has been such a worthwhile experience and I am already looking forward to the next one Funlife Fitness Centre offer. I know that my journey isn’t over yet… I certainly haven’t reached my final goals, but being part of such a supportive environment that Funlife offers, I know that I will achieve them in time!
